Music

Music continues to be an important part of our worship life, and includes a variety of musical groups and talents.  The Senior Choir has 24 faithful members, the Youth Choir has 6 energetic singers, and the Hand bell Choir has 11 ringers. We also have soloists and instrumentalists of all ages!

SENIOR CHOIR

The Senior Choir performs on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and when needed, the 5th Sundays of the month, from January through the last Sunday of May, and September through December, as well as for special services (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter,  Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, etc.).  Anthems of contrasting styles (spirituals, contemporary, classical, etc.), some of which included instruments such as trumpet, flute or percussion, congregational participation, and choral benedictions have been selected to fit the revised common lectionary scriptures and/or a particular theme of a Sunday.  (Hymns, as well as preludes, offertories, postludes, solos, ensembles, etc. either vocal or instrumental are also selected in this manner, thus providing more cohesiveness to the worship service.) Membership is open to all singers High School age and older.  There are no tryouts, and we always welcome new voices-women’s or especially men’s!

YOUTH CHOIR

The Youth Choir performs the 2nd Sunday of February, March, (also on Palm Sunday), April, May, October, and November and consists of children from grades 2-8.  Again, songs are selected to meet particular themes or ideas. They also sang for the Children’s Christmas Program in December.  Some anthems included instruments such as flute, clarinet, or hand bells. There are no tryouts to sing in the Youth Choir, and new voices are always welcome!

HAND BELL CHOIR

The Hand bell Choir plays in February, on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, in April, May, October, November, December, and for Christmas Eve. Some anthems included instruments such as trumpet, violin, percussion or organ.  There is room for a couple more ringers!
